I am 67 years old and I am sick and tired of the abortion debate...

"I am 67 years old and I am sick and tired of the abortion debate. I was fortunate enough that when I had an unwanted pregnancy, abortion was legal. I was not young but I was unemployed and dating a man who I should not have been dating for many reasons. When I told him I was pregnant his first words were "I want to be there". I had not mention abortion, he just assumed. He had lied to me about his being married and by the time he did tell me I was already too involved.
However, I did know that I did not want this man in my life at all and definitely not involved for the rest of my life. He was a self involved narcissist and staying with him would have spelled disaster. I chose to have an abortion, very painful as I wanted a child so very much, but I have never regretted it. Yes, I do wonder about that potential life. I don't deny that nor do I feel shame. That is why I give my total permission to use my name. We cannot let others control our bodies." —Joanne Olsson
