I had an abortion this year...

“I had an abortion this year, when I was 18. I found out I was pregnant in the last month of high school, senior week to be exact. That was in May, and I automatically knew that I wanted to have an abortion regardless.

I had my abortion in late July, and I must say it wasn’t nearly as bad as most people made it out to be. I did the pill method, took one pill at the doctor’s office and another 4 I inserted vaginally. It took about 4 hours for them to kick in, so everything came out in the middle of the night at 2 am. I remember it so clearly because I found myself running back and forth to the bathroom when I felt like something was coming out. I know for sure I passed two round things, or that’s what it felt like at least.

As far as cramping, I was awoken by some light cramping, extremely similar to a period, but I hopped up out of bed because I felt my pad was really full. It was full of like watered down blood, EXTREMELY full to the point where it was dripping down my leg, mind you I had on the overnight pad!

Anyways needless to say, a lot of blood was lost which caused me to feel extremely lightheaded and tired, but the clinic prescribed ibuprofen and promethazine for that. Worked great! My experience wasn’t really all that bad, and I don’t want anyone else to feel scared or nervous about it either. It’s almost as if it never happened.” —Taylor
