“When I found out that I was pregnant I was in total shock. I had so many emotions rushing through my mind. Being that I already had so much going on in my life, I couldn't possibly have a child right now. The child's father, was just a friend of mines and we would hook up from time to time. I let him know that I was pregnant, and he was in shock as well.
After pondering on it for about a week, I had made it up in my mind that I was going to get an abortion. At this time I was 7 weeks and completely miserable. The morning sickness was terrible. So I went through the process of calling different abortion clinics checking on pricing.
I made an appt at Planned Parenthood. It was a 2 week process here in the state of Indiana. Your first visit, was kind of like a counseling and you get to see the baby. During that sonogram, I cried. I couldn't believe that I was carrying a child but I also knew that I wasn't ready and wouldn't have the support that I would need. I came back a week later, I brought my mom with me for the procedure. I chose to have a surgical abortion instead of the medical because I just wanted the process over.
The whole time of being pregnant was an emotional rollercoaster for me. After having the procedure was done I felt relieved. The process was really quick and the pain wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was like really bad stomach cramps.
I know some people say that they felt sad, and depressed but that wasn't the case for me. I had a sense of relief. I have my days where ponder on how life would be, if I didn't have the procedure but I know that I made the right decision. I just want you guys to know that it's okay, and everything will be okay after an abortion.” —Sheena
